Meet the Craftsman

I didn't start out building cabinets. I hold an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington, and spent years training for and working in a career on stage and screen. It was in LA, in the middle of that life, that I met my wife.

At some point we decided we wanted something different — we spent time in Texas and put a lot of miles behind us, living out of a truck bed camper and crossing the country with no schedule but our own. That stretch of the road taught me as much about patience and problem-solving as any job I've had since.

Eventually we came home to Massachusetts to start a family. I joined the fire department, where I'm now a lieutenant, and picked up the tools again — this time for good. Somewhere along the way, woodworking stopped being a hobby and became the thing I wanted to build a second career around.

Two very different careers taught me the same lesson: show up prepared, pay attention to the details nobody else notices, and don't put your name on something you wouldn't want in your own house. That's what C.P. Joiner is. I'm a husband, a father of two boys who've already started sneaking into my shop to "help," and a craftsman who builds every closet and built-in the way I'd want one built for my own family.

A man in a gray cap, glasses, and a beige apron is working in a woodworking shop. He is using a power tool on a piece of wood. The workshop has various hand tools, small wood pieces, clamps, and a pegboard with hooks for tools.
